I'm interested in purchasing a particular "hot" new car that, unfortunately, is hard to find due to its popularity. And because the car is in such demand the dealers are not budging on price. Some are even adding $2,000 to the M.S.R.P.! How can I purchase this car at a fair price?

The "selling prices" for new cars and trucks are determined by pure supply-and-demand. If there are many vehicles sitting on the dealership lot of the particular make and model you want to buy, then you'll pay less. If the car is more difficult to find, then obviously you'll pay more.

Sometimes, however, a car hits the market that is so hot that dealerships find themselves with the pleasant problem of having many more buyers than vehicles. In that case, the dealership can charge whatever the market will bear. And in this case, people are willing to pay $2,000 over the full sticker price for a vehicle that's actual value is far less. So unless you're willing to pay that much, there's not much you can do.
